Hannah was born in 1845 in Darcy Lever.1  Hannah's father was Robert Tong and her mother was Nancy Mather.  Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Sarah Davenport. She had six brothers and a sister, named Thomas, Robert, William, Peter, Horatio, James and Sarah.  She was the fifth oldest of the eight children.  She died in 1845 in Darcy Lever.1
