Thomas Mather

Thomas was born in December 1780 in Little Lever and his baptism took place on December 10th, 1780 at St. Peter's (Bolton).¹²

Thomas' father was Thomas Mather and his mother was Betty Thornley. He had four brothers and three sisters, named James, John, Richard, Peter, Jane, Betty and Mercy. He was the sixth oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 78 in September 1859 in Darcy Lever.³

  In 1823, Thomas (his father) left 2 cottages in Darcy Lever, in possession of John Fletcher and his son Thomas Mather, to his son Thomas Mather.
  
  In 1841, Thomas and Sarah Mather (both 60) were in Clap Row, Darcy Lever with their grandson Thomas Tonge (7), so confirming that Nancy is their daughter.
