Richard's father was Richard Tomlinson and his mother was Annie Roberts. His paternal grandparents were Peter Bradley Tomlinson and Rachel Heyes. He had two brothers and a sister, named Peter, William and Edith. He was the third oldest of the four children. He died at the age of 71 on January 11th, 1997 in Churchstanton.¹
