John's mother died soon after giving birth, so John was brought up by his aunt Polly.
By 1891 John (aged 5) was living with father and aunt Mary Hibbert and her step-children at 5 Junction Road, Bolton, Lancashire.
In 1901, living as a lodger (boarder) at 32 Commission Street, Bolton Lancashire with Alice Greenhalgh and her son Adam. This would be just across the street from his grandmother Ann Tomlinson (nee Bolton), who was living at 17 Commission St.
In 1911, John Richard Tomlinson was boarding with his Aunt Mary Morris (nee Tomlinson), also in Commission Street.
John died in 1916. His WW1 pension card names his wife Annie and 2 childred Edna and George with DOBs. GRO records confirm the mothers name is Greenhalgh.
I originalt thought John and Annie emigrated to America around 1911. They had two daughters there. Waterford; Groton Connecticut USA. This may be another family.
