James Tyack

James was born about 1808 in Ireland.¹

- Sarah (contact) believes James born in Ireland. 1851 census has James from Ireland. However, 1861 census has James from Riveford, Devon ... Typical Irish !

He died in September 1872 in Birkenhead.²

- James was recorded as a Mariner when he married Mary in 1832.
  
  James and Mary were from Ireland and Harlech, Merionthshire (Wales) respectively. They spent some time in Liverpool (where Jane and Elizabeth were both born) before moving to 82 Mersey Street, Seacombe some time between 1839-40. In the 1841 census James’ occupation is listed as ‘Boatman’ while the 1851 census shows him as working as a Dock Gateman.
