Sarah was born on December 24th, 1821 in Almondbury and her baptism took place on January 27th, 1822 in Highfield (Independent).1  Sarah's father was James Stocks and her mother was Hannah Edwards.  Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Stocks and Elizabeth Hargreaves. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Uriah, Job, George, Elizabeth, Mary and Emma.  She was the fourth oldest of the seven children.
