Mary's father was Benjamin Stocks and her mother was Ann Walker.  Her paternal grandparents were Benjamin Stocks and Sarah Cliffe. She had eight brothers and two sisters, named Benjamin, William, George, Jonathan, Joseph, Benjamin, John, Samuel, Elizabeth and Ann.  She was the fourth youngest of the eleven children.  She died at the age of 31 in April 1838 in Huddersfield.  She was buried on April 4th, 1838 at Woodhouse Christ Church.²
