Benjamin's father was David Stocks and his mother was Sarah Brook.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Stocks and Eliza Wilkinson. He had four brothers and a sister, named Joseph, Richard, Samuel, David and Jane.  He was the third oldest of the six children. He had a half-sister named Anne.  He died at the age of 60 in July 1804 in Huddersfield.  He was buried on July 15th, 1804 at St. Peter (Huddersfield).¹
