Isaac was born in 1834 in Oldham and his baptism took place there on July 13th, 1834.1 2  Isaac's father was Job Stocks and his mother was Mary Whitehead.  His paternal grandparents were Joseph Stocks and Elizabeth Hargreaves. He had a brother and two sisters, named Job, Sarah and Ann.  He was the youngest of the four children.

‌Isaac and Eliza were married in a religious ceremony on May 22nd, 1880 in Chadderton.3   There are no children.
