Eliza was born on January 11th, 1810 in Marsden and her baptism took place on January 11th, 1810 in Quarmby Cum Lindley.1  Eliza's father was Job Stocks and her mother was Sarah Brigg.  Her paternal grandparents were Benjamin Stocks and Sarah Cliffe. She had a brother and a sister, named William and Sarah.  She was the oldest of the three children. She had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Edward, Thomas, Caroline, Ann, Charlotte and Betty.
