  "William son of William Smith of Clayton Baptised by a Dissenting minister June the 16th 1755"

William was born in June 1755 in Clayton (Bradford) and his baptism took place on June 16th, 1755 at Northowram Independant.¹

William's father was William Smith and his mother was Mary Wilkinson. He had two brothers and six sisters, named John, Isaac, Mary, Betty, Priscilla, Martha, Hannah and Matty. He was the fourth oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 63 in January 1819 in Wilsden (Bradford). His burial was on January 22nd, 1819 at All Saints (Bingley).²
