Mary's father was William Smith and her mother was Mary Wilkinson. She had three brothers and five sisters, named John, Isaac, William, Betty, Priscilla, Martha, Hannah and Matty.  She was the oldest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 89 on November 30th, 1838 in Bingley.  She was buried on December 4th, 1838 at All Saints (Bingley).²
