Catherine was born in December 1870 in Is-y-Coed.1  Catherine's father was Thomas Rogers and her mother was Elizabeth Davies.  Her maternal grandparents were John Davies and Ann Whitfield. She had a brother and a sister, named John and Margaret.  She was the youngest of the three known children. She had two half-sisters named Ann and Mary.
