Mary was born in March 1870 in Rock Ferry.1  Mary's father was James Parr and her mother was Martha Griffiths. She had a brother and a sister, named (Alfred) and Elizabeth.  She was the oldest of the three children. She had four half-sisters named Martha, Emily, Florence and Martha.
