William's father was Taliesin Owen and his mother was Mary Jane Jones. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Samuel, Taliesin, Harold, Arthur, Tilston, Elizabeth, Margaret and Amy.  He was the third oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 71 on December 25th, 1943 in Tranmere.²
