Arthur's father was Taliesin Owen and his mother was Mary Jane Jones. He had five brothers and three sisters, named William, Samuel, Taliesin, Harold, Tilston, Elizabeth, Margaret and Amy.  He was the second youngest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 1 in December 1885 in Birkenhead.²
