May was born on October 11th, 1919 in Wigan.1  May's father was John Morris and her mother was Sarah Alice Orrell.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry Morris and Anne Wood; her maternal grandparents were <unknown> and Alice Jane Gorse Orrell. She had a sister named Kathleen. She had a half-brother and four half-sisters, named Granville, Emily, Annie, Mabel and Joan.  She died at the age of 66 on January 7th, 1986 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.1
