Emily's father was John Morris and her mother was Mabel Isabel Thompson.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry Morris and Anne Wood. She had two sisters named Annie and Mabel.  She was the oldest of the three children. She had two half-sisters named May and Kathleen.  She died at the age of 76 in January 1983 in St. Helens.²
