Mabel's father was John Morris and her mother was Mabel Isabel Thompson.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry Morris and Anne Wood. She had two sisters named Emily and Annie.  She was the youngest of the three children. She had two half-sisters named May and Kathleen.  She died at the age of 84 in May 1999 in Wigan.²
