Miriam was born in December 1903 in Hawarden.1  Miriam's father was Joseph Millington and her mother was Elizabeth Ellis. She had three brothers and six sisters, named Joseph, Clemence, Dennis, Dilys, Lena, Ethel, Florrie, Alice and Clara.  She was the second youngest of the ten children.
