Alice was born in June 1898 in Wrexham.1  Alice's father was Joseph Millington and her mother was Elizabeth Ellis. She had three brothers and six sisters, named Joseph, Clemence, Dennis, Dilys, Lena, Ethel, Florrie, Clara and Miriam.  She was the fifth youngest of the ten children.
