Clemence's father was Joseph Millington and his mother was Elizabeth Ellis. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named Joseph, Dennis, Dilys, Lena, Ethel, Florrie, Alice, Clara and Miriam.  He was the fourth youngest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 74 in 1973.
