George's father was John Millington and his mother was Mary Connah.  His paternal grandparents were John Millington and Margaret Youd. He had five brothers and four sisters, named John, Thomas, William, Edward, Charles, Rachel, Margaret, Mary and Elizabeth.  He was the second youngest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 77 in March 1876 in Keele.²
