Elizabeth was born in 1831 in Little Lever and her baptism took place on October 2nd, 1831 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Elizabeth's father was John Millington and her mother was Harriet Whitworth.  Her paternal grandparents were Edward Millington and Ann Davies. She had two brothers and four sisters, named John, Peter, Ann, Harriet, Martha and Mary.  She was the youngest of the seven children.

‌Elizabeth and John were married in a religious ceremony on June 3rd, 1849 in Farnworth.2
