Ann was born in September 1837 in Saltney and her baptism took place on October 1st, 1837 in Hawarden.¹²

Ann's father was Edward Millington and her mother was Hannah (Ann) Dunn. Her paternal grandparents were John Millington and Ann Shaw. She had a brother and four sisters, named John, Mary, Jane, Elizabeth and Rachel. She was the third oldest of the six children. She had a half-brother named Edward.
