Thomas' father was George Mather and his mother was Mary Ann Gee.  His paternal grandparents were Joseph Mather and Ann Livsley. He had two brothers named George and Joseph.  He was the second oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 40 on August 13th, 1903 in Ormskirk.³
