Thomas Mather

Thomas was born in 1829 in Breightmet. Thomas' father was James Clough and his mother was Sarah Mather. His maternal grandparents were John Mather and Ann Brabin. He had seven brothers and two sisters, named John, James, Richard, Thomas, Samuel, Joseph, Robert, Ann and Margaret. He was the oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 9 in February 1838 in Breightmet. His burial was on February 14th, 1838 at Christ Church, Ainsworth.¹

- Thomas Mather was born about 1838, the illegitimate son of Sarah Mather (and James Clough).
  
  In Feb 1838, Thomas Mather died aged 9, and their next son in 1841 was then baptised Thomas (Clough).
