Margaret was born in December 1839 in Breightmet.1  Margaret's father was James Clough and her mother was Sarah Mather.  Her maternal grandparents were John Mather and Ann Brabin. She had eight brothers and a sister, named Thomas, John, James, Richard, Thomas, Samuel, Joseph, Robert and Ann.  She was the fifth youngest of the ten children.  She died at the age of 1 in May 1841 in Breightmet.1
