Thomas Mather

Thomas was born in 1753 in Haslingden and his baptism took place there on April 1st, 1753.¹

Thomas' father was Abraham Mather and his mother was Anne Barns. His paternal grandparents were John (Old Hatter) Mather and Martha Mather. He had five brothers and a sister, named John, James, Abraham, William, Abraham and Anne. He was the fourth oldest of the seven children. He had a half-sister named Sarah.

  Thomas's parents later lived at Lower Lane, Haslingden, and this is where he was living in 1778 when son William was baptised. His siblings William and Anne were also at Lower Lane when their children were baptised in 1872 and 1875.
