Stanley was born on July 22nd, 1901 in Little Hulton.1  Stanley's father was John William Mather and his mother was Charlotte Ann Swift.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Mather (Cunliffe) and Alice Heaton. He had three brothers and three sisters, named George, Arthur, James, Alice, Lily and Emma.  He was the second youngest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 107 on May 14th, 2009 in NSW.1

‌Stanley and Mary were married.  They had a son named Alan.
