John was born on February 2nd, 1867 in Bolton.1  John's father was Robert Mather (Cunliffe) and his mother was Alice Heaton.  His paternal grandparents were John Cunliffe and Eliza Mather. He had a brother and three sisters, named Robert, Eliza, Mary and Emily.  He was the oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 70 on February 15th, 1937 in Bolton.2 



John's family with Charlotte Ann Swift

‌John and Charlotte were married in a religious ceremony in 1888 at Bolton Emmanuel.3  They had four sons and three daughters, named George, Arthur, James, Stanley, Alice, Lily and Emma.  There are no more children.
