Sarah was born on May 8th, 1840 in Manchester and her baptism took place there on May 13th, 1840.1 2  Sarah's father was John Frederick Mather and her mother was Priscilla Leach.  Her paternal grandparents were Robert Mather and Sarah. She had three brothers and a sister, named Robert, John, Henry and Alice.  Robert and Sarah were twins. She had three half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Robert, Frederick, Charles, Matilda, Ann and Isabella.  She died about 1843 in Manchester.
