Sarah was born in 1868 in Pendleton.1  Sarah's father was Levi Mather and her mother was Sarah Aldred.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry Mather and Sarah (Sally) Swindels. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Henry, James, William, Levi, Jane, Harriet and Mary.  She was the seventh oldest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 17 on September 29th, 1885 in Pendleton.  Her burial was in September 1885 at St. Paul (Little Hulton).
