Sarah's father was Jonathan Mather and her mother was Elizabeth (Betty) Moss.  Her paternal grandparents were James Mather and Esther Mason. She had two sisters named Catherine and Sarah.  She was the oldest of the three children. She had three half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Robert, Thomas, John, Alice, Martha and Esther.  She died at 3 months old in April 1830 in Wheelton.  She was buried on April 7th, 1830 in Leyland.²
