Robert Mather

Robert was born in 1794 in Barton upon Irwell and his baptism took place on June 29th, 1794 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Eccles).¹²

Robert's father was Ellis (Elias) Mather and his mother was Alice Eccles. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Robert, Elias, James, Ann, Sarah, Alice, Alice and Ann. He was the second oldest of the nine children.

- 3 Jan 1814 Robert Mather (23) and Elizabeth Hardman (22) were married at St Mary's Eccles. Robert may have had a brother Henry who married Nancy Gillebrand there the same day. He also had a brother Richard who he was witness to his marriage in 1842.
  
  In 1861, Robert Mather and Betty (75 & 70) were at Spring Gardens, neighbours of his son William. Robert was a Brick Maker and an employer of 4 men.
