Robert was born in June 1845 in Turton.1  Robert's father was Robert Mather and his mother was Ann Ainsworth.  His paternal grandparents were <unknown> and Ellen Mather. He had four brothers and three sisters, named William, John, Thomas, James, Peggy, Mary and Sarah.  He was the second youngest of the eight children.  He died at 2 months old in August 1845 in Turton.  He was buried on September 2nd, 1845 at St. Anne (Turton).1
