Mary was born on September 1st, 1832 in Turton and her baptism took place on February 25th, 1833 at Walmsley Presbyterian conducted by William Probert.1 2  Mary's father was Robert Mather and her mother was Ann Ainsworth.  Her paternal grandparents were <unknown> and Ellen Mather. She had five brothers and two sisters, named William, John, Thomas, James, Robert, Peggy and Sarah.  She was the third oldest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 63 on October 19th, 1895 in Darwen.  She was buried in October 1895 at Christ Church, Walmsley.3 3

‌Mary and Daniel were married in a religious ceremony on November 7th, 1863 at St. Peter's (Bolton) by Vicar Henry Powell and witnessed by Benjamin Nuttall & Mary Ann Howarth.4  They had a son and two daughters, named Sam, Elizabeth and Eliza.  There are no more children.
