Robert's mother was Ellen Mather of Withnell (bastard as father unknown).
In 1826, Robert moved to (Cock's) Cox Green, Turton and married Ann Ainsworth. They has their children baptised at Walmsley Presbyterian Chapel by William Probert.
In 1827 when Peggy was baptised they were at Top o'th Lane, Turton (near Cock's Green).
In 1841, Robert, a Stone Quarryman, and Ann (40 & 35) are at Cox Green (near Dunscar), Turton with Peggy, Mary and John (13, 8 & 5). With them (or more likely neighbours) were James (45, Weaver) and Samuel (14, Carter) Longworth.
In 1851, Robert and Ann (53 & 48) are at Cox Green, Turton with Peggy, Mary, John, James and Sarah (22, 18, 15, 8, 3)
In 1861, Robert and Ann (63 & 55) are still at Cox Green, Turton with Mary, James and Sarah (22, 18 & 13)
Cock's Green later known as Cox Green. Cox Green Farm is on the East side of Darwen Road, with Mather Fold opposite, on the West side.
