Richard was aged 13 in 1841, living at Chapel Lane, Hindley

In 1851, Richard a Shoe Maker and Jane (24 & 27) were at Chapel Green, Hindley with Ellen Mary and Selena (2 & 1)

17 June 1863, Richard Mather of Shelmerdine St, Wigan was a Boot and Shoe Maker, executor of his father's Will.

In 1861, Richard Mather, Boot Maker and Jane (34 & 37) are at 6 Doulas Street, Wigan with Helen M (12), Martha A (8), John (7), Elizabeth (2) and Rebecca Ann Mather (11, Niece).  Thee is no birth for Rebecca, so she is likely to be Rebecca Ann Ingram, born Q3/1849 illegitimate,at Chorlton.

In 1881, Richard Mather 53, widower, was living at 164 Warrington Road, Ince in Makerfield.  He was a master shoe maker.

In 1891, Richard (73, Wid, Shoe Maker) was living alone at 154 Warrington Road, Ince.

In 1901, Richard (father-in-law, retired shoemaker) was 73 at Ince Green Lane, Ince in Makerfield with his daughter Ellen M Ashton.  He died in 1902 at Ince Green Lane, aged 74
