Jane was born in June 1846 in Hindley.1  Jane's father was William Mather and her mother was Martha Barlow. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Richard, Thomas, William, John, Mary, Sarah and Elizabeth.  She was the youngest of the eight children.  She died in June 1846 in Hindley.1
