Mary Mather

Mary was born in March 1789 in Westhoughton and her baptism took place on April 1st, 1789 at St. Bartholomew (Westhoughton).¹

Mary's father was Ralph Mather and her mother was Elizabeth (Betty) Glover. She had two brothers and six sisters, named Ralph, John, Betty, Catharine, Ann, Ellin, Hannah and Ellin.  She was the youngest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 10 in May 1799 in Westhoughton.  She was buried on May 5th, 1799 at St. Bartholomew (Westhoughton).¹
