Mary was born in April 1850 in Little Bolton.1  Mary's father was Lawrence Mather and her mother was Jane Ward. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Samuel, John, Agnes, Mary, Elizabeth and Jane.  She was the third oldest of the seven children.  She died at 2 months old in June 1850 in Little Bolton.  She was buried on June 9th, 1850 at St. Peter's (Bolton).2 3
