Agnes' father was Lawrence Mather and her mother was Jane Ward. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Samuel, John, Mary, Mary, Elizabeth and Jane.  She was the oldest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 1 in December 1847 in Little Bolton.¹
