Margaret was born in 1872 at Egerton.1  Margaret's father was Charles Mather and her mother was Ann Dewhurst.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Hannah (Ann) Kirkham. She had four brothers and a sister, named Thomas, (William), Edmund, Robert and Mary.  She was the second oldest of the six children.
