Margaret's father was Ralph Mather and her mother was Ann Thompson. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, Ralph, William, Ellen, Mary, Elizabeth and Ellen.  She was the youngest of the eight children. She had a half-sibling of unknown gender named <child>.
