5 Nov 1914, Joseph Mather (18y 7mo) of 22 John Brown Street, son of John Mather joined the Batt Home Service, Loyal North Lancs, of the British Army as a Private. Regiment Number 241405. He was 5'5" NOK was Cathrine Mather of 232 Oxford Grove, Bolton
9 Fen 1917, Joseph was sent to France.
6 Oct 1918, Corporal Joseph Mather was missing, and later reported Killed in Action

This was the third Joseph to be born. The Josephs born in 1891 and 1892 both died.
5 Nov 1914, Joseph, son of John of 22 John Brown Street, Bolton was registered on his WW1 service record at 18y 7m (but would have been 17). He was 5'5" with a 34.5" waist. He was fit for the Territorial Force.
5 April 1919 His death was reported to Mrs C Mather (his mother) of 232 Oxford Grove, Bolton.
