Joseph Mather

Joseph was born in 1831 in Golborne.¹

Joseph's father was John Mather and his mother was Ellen Birchall. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Elizabeth, John, Harriet, Ellen and Mary. He was the oldest of the six children.

  12 Oct 1863, Joseph Mather (33), spinner, widower of Golbourn, son of John a labourer married Elizabeth Aspinall (34), widow from Lowton, daughter of John Crouchley.
  
  In 1871, Joseph and Elizabeth (40 & 42) were at Westleigh with Lucy (18), John (12), Mary Ann (10), Thomas (8), and Henry (3), Although all named Mather the step-daughters shoudl be named ASPINALL.
