Frances, known as Fanny, was born in December 1871 in Worsley.¹

Birth Notes

Fanny's father was John Mather and her mother was Alice Whittle. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Alice Bradshaw. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, James, Sarah, Elizabeth, Betsy and Edith. She was the youngest of the seven children.
