Elizabeth, known as Edith, was born in June 1869 in Worsley.¹

Birth Notes

Edith's father was John Mather and her mother was Alice Whittle. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Alice Bradshaw. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, James, Sarah, Elizabeth, Betsy and Fanny. She was the second youngest of the seven children.
