Emma, known as Enock, was born in September 1862 in Farnworth.1  Enock's father was Joseph Mather and his mother was Elizabeth Kennerley.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Mather and Elizabeth (Betty) Hardman. He had a brother and four sisters, named Henry, Lois, Anna, Elizabeth and Maggie.  He was the third youngest of the six children.
